WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 12, 2021 – Torch.AI, a leading artificial intelligence (AI) platform, today announces the addition of Dr. John C. Gannon to its Advisory Board. Gannon joins Torch.AI with decades of experience in the United States Intelligence Community. He is committed to ensure the analytic tradecraft critical to our national security mission is supported by the very best emerging technologies.

Gannon served in key leadership roles for the Central Intelligence Agency including director of European Analysis, deputy director for intelligence, assistant director of central intelligence for analysis and production, and as chair of the National Intelligence Council. After his retirement from the CIA, Gannon served at the White House as head of the intelligence team standing up the Department of Homeland Security and later in U.S. Congress as the first staff director of the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security.
Later, Gannon served as President of UK-owned BAE Systems’ $1.7B Intelligence and Security sector practice, where he successfully managed one of the industry’s largest Foreign Ownership, Control or Influence (FOCI) programs supporting intelligence, defense and homeland security missions.

During his career, Gannon served on various committees of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM). In 2020, he was appointed co-chair of the Congressionally Directed NASEM Roundtable on Science, Technology, and Security. Also in 2020, Gannon was elected chairman of the National Intelligence University Board of Visitors.
Gannon has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the CIA’s Distinguished Intelligence Medal, Director’s Medal and Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal. In 2004, former President George W. Bush awarded Gannon the National Security Medal, the nation’s highest intelligence award. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Holy Cross College and a master’s degree and doctorate in history from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. Gannon is a retired Naval Reserve Officer (06, Captain) and Vietnam veteran with extensive reserve service in the Pentagon.
